About Louise
Let me tell you a little bit about myself.....
I have been a Vermont resident since 1990 and work out of my home studio in Bradford, VT. I studied art and art history at Keuka College, Keuka Park, NY and Keene State College, Keene, NH.
My love of glass started when I was dabbling in silver PMC (Precious Metal Clay) jewelry a little over 2 years ago. I wanted glass embellishments to enhance my work and decided to try to make some myself. After many disastrous tries and a lot of reading on the internet and talking to glass artisans, I finally got the hang of it and fell in love.
It wasn't long before the PMC was set aside and glass work became my passion.
I replaced my small starter kiln with a large Paragon kiln and have not looked back since. Each piece is designed, hand cut and fused or slumped by me, the entire process takes about 3 days from start to finish.
I love how each piece is unique, and how a sheet of art glass can be transformed into a beautiful and functional piece of art. Each piece large or small is capped with clear glass to bring out color as well as give it more substance and strength.
The dichroic glass is especially fun since it plays with the light so well.
